NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME– “NOT ME BUT YOU”

Started since 2014, the college sub-unit works as per the regulations of The Bangalore University NSS unit. The volunteers of the college sub-unit have many special accolades to their credit.

Definition, Meaning and Scope of the NSS: –

The NSS was launched in INDIA on 24th September 1969, to mark the birth centenary year of “Father of our Nation”, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

ACTIVITIES

                                                                                       YOGATHON 2019-20

RNS FIRST GRADE has conducted yogathon to create awareness in people about the importance of yoga on 18th July 2019. The event was organised under the Tag line “Yoga for Life”. It was conducted with the guidance of our Principal Dr. Sudheer Pai K L, Vice Principal Shilpa Sarnad, NSS programme Officer Prof. Jagadeesh K N. More than 1018 students, faculty members and the public took part in this event. Current generation is becoming weak and unhealthy day by day due to ignorance, wrong practices and laziness. It is our responsibility to spread right practices time to time to make everyone ‘HEALTHY, HAPPY AND HARMONIOUS’. Yogathon is one of the key events which help all age group to inspire themselves and experience synergy within the event. This event also inspires everyone to increase their confidence, fitness and inspire them towards health and selflessness.

                                                                                       SIGHTAHON 2019-20

On the occasion of National Eye Donation fortnight on 25th August 2019.SAKSHAM CAMBA in association with Minto Ophthalmic Hospital organized 2 KM blindfold walk/’SIGHTHON’ at Shree Kanteerava Stadium, to create awareness of Eye Donation.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Srinivas {Minto Eye Hospital}, Dr. Sudheer Pai K L {SAKAHAM, Karnataka President}, Sri Shekar Naik {Indian Blind Cricket Captain}. Around 1500 members pledged their eyes to donate after their death and had an experience of blind fold walk.
Our college NSS Unit -1 Volunteers are participated in this Event. Along with NSS Programme Officer Prof. Jagadeesh K N.

                                                      JEEVAMRUTHA BLOOD DONATION FESTIVAL 2019-20

RNS First Grade College in collaboration with RNS Pre University College and Lions Club Bangalore South – organized and celebrated Blood Donation Festival ‘Jeevamrutha’ with the motto ‘Donate Blood, Save Lives’ on 14th February 2020 at RNS FGC Block channasandra. The occasion was inaugurated at 9:00 am by the Chief Guest Dr. Mathangi J, Senior Consultant,Radiation Oncologist,BGS Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Sri Jayadeva Kamath, Treasurer, SAKSHAM, and Presided by Dr. R N Shetty, Managing Trustee, R N Shetty Trust.

Sri Lion Sriramlu, Chairman,Blood Donation Committee, Lion Prof. N S Nagesh Rao, President, Lions Club Bangalore South, Mr.Shivu V, Alumni President of RNS FGC were the Guests of honour on the occasion and inspired the gathering and joined the drive.

Dr.Sudheer Pai K L, the Principal of RNS FGC, addressed and encouraged the students, parents, college teaching and non teaching staff to donate their blood for the good cause. Prof.Ravishankar B V, Principal of RNS PUC, Prof.Jagadeesh K N, NSS Programme Officer, Prof.Shilpa Sarnad, Vice Principal of RNS FGC, Prof.Gayathri P, Vice Principal of RNS PUC, Prof.Rose Rita Pais, Alumni Staff Co-ordinator RNS PUC, Prof. Madhusudhan T K, Alumni Staff Co-ordinator RNS FGC helped in organizing the camp. Teaching and non-teaching staff, students, volunteers and parents took active participation in the Festival.

Students enthusiastically participated in the camp and around 475 units of blood was collected by Lions Club, Bangalore South, Rashrothana Blood bank, Indira Gandhi Institute of child Health Hospital blood bank, Kidwai and Red cross Blood Bank.

                                                           CLAY SEED GANESHA MAKING ACTIVITY 2019-20

On the occasion of Ganesha Festival, clay seed Ganesha making activity was organized by Shree Vidyaranya Yuvakara Sangha Bangalore, on 25th August 2019. In this activity our college NSS Unit – 2 Volunteers participated in this event, and most important thing is the event will be recorded in ‘GUNNESS WORLD RECORDS’.

NSS CAMP

RNS First Grade College organised a NSS Camp at Dodda Aalahalli, Kanakapura Taluk, Ramanagar district from 05th January 2020 to 12th January 2020. NSS Camp creates citizen action and develops leadership. The Camp organised by the college provided opportunities to the students to play their due role in the implementation of various development programmes by planning and executing. The college has started the NSS wing to provide opportunities to students to play their due role in the implementation of various development programs by planning and executing development programme. It also emphasises the dignity of labour and self – help and need for combining physical work with intellectual persuits. The volunteers participated enthusiastically in the camp along with the Principal Dr. Sudheer Pai K L, Vice Principal Prof. Shilpa Sarnad, NSS Programme officer Prof. Jagadeesh K N and the staff members.
All the six days, the volunteers have worked outside the comfort zone. The volunteer’s emphasized on hygienic living condition and highlighted the importance of ‘SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN’. The NSS camp theme was “PARISARA SUMRAKSHANE NAMMELLARA HOONE”. The NSS camp teaches the students to come out of their comfort zone and serve the nation which is essential and enriches the village people to maintain the hygiene in and around their place. The camp develops competence required for group living and sharing of responsibility. The NSS programme officer had scheduled the time of events well in advance like flag hoisting, yoga, breakfast, shramadan, lunch, guest lecture, sports, cultural rehearsal, cultural programme, assembly session and completing the day with dinner.
From the guest lecturers they have learnt so many things like role of NSS in building the nation, values of Mahatma Gandhi, India my mother land, eye donation for a noble cause, self motivation, physiotherapy in cerebral palsy and personality development and about the conditions of villages before and then etc.. The cultural programme gave a chance to exhibit the talents of the volunteers for the village people and which is also filled with entertainment.
The camp ended on 12th January 2020 with the valedictory programme in the presence of Chief Guest and Guests of Honour Mr. Girish , President, Grama panchayat, Dodda Aalahalli, Sri Mahesh Youths President, Dodda Aalahalli, along with our Respected Principal Dr. Sudheer pai K L, Vice Principal Prof. Shilpa Sarnad and NSS Programme officer Prof. Jagadeesh K L and the staff members.
The students shared their wonderful experience at the camp. The students expressed that the camp has made them to develop the leadership ability, time management, discipline, planning, and dignity of the work by an individual person. Presidential address was given by the honourable Principal Dr.Sudheer Pai K L, RNS First Grade College, who was overjoyed to see the transformation among the students and he appreciated the students for their dedicated service to the society. Sangolli Rayanna group was awarded as Best group, Runner up group was Swami Vivekananda. Mr. Madhu R of Mother Theresa group got best volunteer from boys section and Ms. Amitha G Naik of Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose Group got best volunteer from girls section. All the faculty members contributed to the grand success of the NSS Camp.
