Introduction

National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an initiative dedicated to fostering a sense of social responsibility and welfare across all sections of society. It operates with the aim of providing impartial service and support to those in need. NSS volunteers, comprising students, collaborate to ensure meaningful assistance and contribute to community development.

The motto, “Not Me, but You,” embodies the spirit of democratic living and emphasizes the importance of selfless service, reflecting the association’s commitment to societal well-being.

Objectives:

  • Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • Community problems solution in which they can be involved.
  • Develop the sense of social and civil responsibility.
  • Develop competence in group living.
  • Gain skills in community participation.
  • Acquire leadership qualities
  • Democratic attitude.

Outreach and Activities:

NSS operates under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, providing students with opportunities to engage with the public, promote civic awareness, and encourage social responsibility. This program has been instrumental in guiding young individuals toward community-oriented service.

NSS volunteers at RNS First Grade College actively contribute to the betterment of society through various initiatives, including:

  • Clean-Up Drives: Promoting cleanliness and environmental awareness.
  • Health Camps: Offering medical services and spreading health awareness.
  • Awareness Programs: Addressing issues like waste management and sanitation.
  • Rural Exposure Camps: Educating rural communities about civic responsibility and social issues.

During rural exposure camps, guest speakers from various organizations interact with students and villagers, addressing key community issues and motivating collective action.

The NSS unit at RNS First Grade College plays a pivotal role in shaping socially responsible citizens. By engaging in diverse outreach programs, NSS volunteers uphold values of patriotism, unity, and altruism, creating a lasting impact on the community they serve.
